Thriving in the challenging wetland environments, including saline and alum-rich soils, Cỏ bàng is easily recognizable. It's a herbaceous plant with a tubular stem, vibrant green leaves, and brown flowers at its apex, growing up to 1.8 meters tall. Its simple, rustic appearance belies its resilience. During harvest season, locals will use sickles to cut the sedge grass to the roots. After cutting, the grass is shaken several times to remove yellow wilted plants and tied into neat bundles. Bundles of grass are transported by boat or motorbikes to the roadside, waiting for trucks to pick up the goods.
