Bong dance or also known as "Con dia danh bong" dance is a traditional folk dance of Trieu Khuc village, Hanoi, featuring village boys dressed as women, beating Bong drums. This dance originated in the 8th century, when King Phung Hung used the dance to encourage the morale of his soldiers before besieging the Tang army. The dance's movements are simple but express a spirit of freedom, decisiveness, and strength, and is performed on traditional village festivals.
