My grandfather was a veteran of the Vietnamese army during the resistance war against the US. He worked as a military medic during the war and helped many comrades contribute to the victory of the Vietnamese national liberation. He passed away due to old age in 2024. The photo above is the last time he attended his wife's birthday. I feel very lucky to have this photo, because no matter how much money I have in the future, I probably won't be able to have a second photo like this. My grandfather's name is Nguyen Tat Thu. He was probably one of the long-time followers of the 7pm news every day because he always wanted to hear news about Vietnam. Perhaps it was like when he was a soldier, always waiting for news of Vietnam's victory. He was always proud to be Vietnamese until the last moment of his life, and always taught his children and grandchildren to live up to the "children and grandchildren of veterans", to always bring honor to the family and to our country, Vietnam.
