The Cu Chi Tunnels are a system of underground tunnels dug by the Vietnamese people and army during the resistance wars against the French and Americans. Initially intended for hiding and shelter, they were later expanded into a massive revolutionary base with complete functional rooms such as command centers, infirmaries, and weapons depots, meticulously camouflaged, becoming a symbol of Vietnam's "Iron Land, Bronze Fortress." Located about 70 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, the Cu Chi Tunnels are a microcosm of the ingenious and creative tactics employed by the people and army of Cu Chi during the long and fierce 30-year resistance against invading enemies, fighting for national independence and freedom. With its monumental achievements, the Cu Chi Tunnels have entered the history of the heroic struggle of the Vietnamese people as a legend of the 20th century and have become a world-renowned landmark. This is a unique and unparalleled marvel of warfare, with approximately 250 km of tunnels spreading like a spiderweb underground, featuring interconnected structures such as trenches, bunkers, fighting positions, dining and sleeping quarters, meeting rooms, living quarters, medical facilities, food storage areas, water wells, and the Hoang Cam kitchen… The true stories from these tunnels surpass human imagination. Just by crawling through a section of the tunnels, you will understand why small Vietnam was able to defeat an enemy that was one of the largest and wealthiest countries in the world. Why Cu Chi, a poor and impoverished land, endured a relentless 21-year battle against an army many times larger, more skilled, and equipped with modern and sophisticated weapons and war equipment. In this confrontation, the army and people of Cu Chi achieved a glorious victory. Relying on the underground tunnel system, fortifications, and trenches, the soldiers and people of Cu Chi fought with extraordinary bravery, achieving miraculous victories. When the American army first entered Cu Chi, they encountered fierce resistance from the tunnels in this strategically important base area, prompting them to exclaim: "Underground villages!", "Dangerous secret zone!"
