Thanh Chuong is a mountainous district located in the southwest of Nghe An province, about 50 km from Vinh city. With an area of over 1,200 km², it boasts diverse topography, encompassing mountains, hills, and plains, creating a rich and majestic natural landscape. Thanh Chuong has a long and rich history and culture, a land steeped in cultural and revolutionary traditions. It is the birthplace of many prominent figures and patriots, such as Comrade Nguyen Sy Sach – one of the exemplary pioneering leaders of the Party. The people of Thanh Chuong are known for their studiousness, diligence, and unity. Thanh Chuong's culture is deeply rooted in the Nghe An region, with its folk songs, traditional festivals, and the vibrant life of villages along the Lam River. Traditional crafts such as brocade weaving, basketry, and soy sauce making are still preserved and developed. Economically, Thanh Chuong has strong potential for development as an agricultural district with strengths in forestry, tea, oranges, and livestock farming. In particular, the Thanh Chuong orange brand and raw tea materials have reached both domestic and international markets, contributing to improving the lives of the people. Besides that, the district has great potential for developing ecotourism with landmarks such as Cau Cau tea island, Khe Kem waterfall, Ru Don ecological area, and a system of picturesque rivers and canals. In recent years, Thanh Chuong has focused on developing transportation infrastructure, services, and attracting investment, opening up many new opportunities. The people of Thanh Chuong are simple, kind, and hardworking. During wartime, they were resilient soldiers; in peacetime, they are diligent and creative farmers. Their strong character, respect for righteousness, and deep affection have created a rural area deeply rooted in the culture of Nghe An province.
