Under the shadow of Karl Marx Mountain and beside the gentle Lenin Stream - where President Ho Chi Minh lived, worked and nurtured his revolutionary will - my family had a morning filled with emotions. The fresh, quiet natural scenery seemed to embrace historical memories, giving us a clearer sense of the sacredness of this land. Wearing the national uniform, each member of the extended family seemed to be united by pride and deep gratitude to the generation of fathers and brothers who sacrificed to preserve today's freedom and independence. In that sacred space, all generational gaps seemed to disappear - leaving only family affection, love and national pride. Happiness - is to stand with the family by the stream of history, to slow down, listen to the whispers of the past and cultivate more love for the homeland in the present.
