The photograph captures the image of the Vietnamese national flag flying atop the Hue Citadel, located within the Hue Imperial Citadel complex – a UNESCO World Heritage site. The red flag with a yellow star stands out against the blue sky, symbolizing the spirit of independence, freedom, and the aspiration for progress of the Vietnamese people. The citadel – where the flag is flown – is a military architectural structure of profound historical significance, built during the reign of King Gia Long (1807) and having witnessed many important milestones in the country's history. The image of the flag flying here is not only symbolic of national sovereignty but also evokes the glorious history of the Nguyen Dynasty and the Vietnamese nation.
