Two veterans gazed at fighter jets and helicopters flying over Ho Chi Minh City on the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country. In their eyes, this was not only a source of pride, but also a vivid witness to the tremendous achievements in economics, culture, education, healthcare, and national defense that the country had attained after half a century of peace, development, and integration.
