Ancient lithophones were used to scare away birds and animals, protect crops, and later served community cultural activities. On normal days, people often kept them in large baskets, and only brought them out to display and perform on holidays. Because of its sacred meaning, this is the only musical instrument played on special occasions such as: New Rice Celebration, Harvest Celebration, Buffalo Eating Festival, and Wine Drinking Festival. Ancient people considered the sound of lithophones as a means to connect people with the gods of heaven and earth, connecting the past with the present.
