Area: Nearly 40 hectares, the largest place to detain prisoners of war in South Vietnam during the war. History of formation Phu Quoc Prison was built by the Saigon government under the command and advice of the US, used to detain revolutionary soldiers, cadres, and captured patriots. At one point, more than 40,000 prisoners were detained. This was a "hell on earth", where many forms of brutal torture took place such as: crucifixion, burial alive, using pliers, electric shock, starvation, confinement in "tiger cages with barbed wire"... Historical value Phu Quoc Prison is evidence of war crimes, denouncing the brutality of the neo-colonial regime. At the same time, this place also shows the indomitable will of revolutionary soldiers, despite being tortured, they still maintained their fighting spirit. After the country's reunification, the prison camp was restored to become a national historical relic. Today's visit: Visitors can visit the tiger cages, solitary confinement cells, where torture scenes are recreated with wax statues. This is an important destination in the journey to learn about history and educate the next generation about patriotism.
