Traditional boat racing on the Perfume River

The traditional boat race is held over one day, coinciding with National Day on September 2nd (Gregorian calendar). The race takes place on the banks of the Perfume River in front of Quoc Hoc High School. On the morning of the race, thousands of residents of the ancient capital and tourists from all over the country arrived very early. They all stood along both banks of the Perfume River, eager to witness the spectacular competition between the boat teams. After the ceremonial part, the athletes headed towards the starting point to begin the competition.
