Every year in the eighth lunar month, the people of Tra Loc cultural village in Quang Tri province hold the "Breaking the Swamp" festival. This festival, which dates back over 300 years, is held annually in the eighth lunar month. According to local legend, the swamp is a gift from heaven and earth; therefore, after a year of hard work, farmers "break the swamp," bringing home some blessings from heaven and earth for good fortune in the coming year.
