Standing tall in Ham Thuan Nam commune, the Ke Ga Lighthouse is not only a prominent landmark just 32km from Phan Thiet city, but it's also recognized as Vietnam's oldest lighthouse. A beacon for mariners, Ke Ga Lighthouse is Vietnam's tallest lighthouse. Designed by French engineer Chnavat, construction of the lighthouse on Hon Ba Island began in February 1897 and was completed in late 1898. It commenced operations in 1900. Built upon the natural rock formation of Hon Ba Island, the granite lighthouse ascends 35 meters, towering 65 meters above the sea. Its powerful 2000-watt bulb illuminates the sea up to 40 kilometers away. A winding staircase of 183 steel steps leads to the lighthouse's summit, offering breathtaking panoramic views. Day and night, the lighthouse stands as a silent sentinel, diligently guiding ships as they navigate the waters of Phan Thiet bay.
