An expansive and serene oasis, Dau Tieng Lake is an impressive feat of engineering. Created by blocking the upstream of the Saigon River, this artificial lake is a marvel of the Southeast region, covering parts of Tay Ninh and Dong Nai provinces and Ho Chi Minh City. As Vietnam's and Southeast Asia's largest irrigation lake, its vast, crystal-clear waters span 270 square kilometers, supporting a diverse ecosystem of over 50 fish species, from featherback to snakehead. Since its completion in 1985, the lake has become more than just a reservoir; its lush, green banks make it a captivating and must-see natural attraction. On the lake's banks, you'll discover the resourceful spirit of Minh Hoa Fishing Village. This unique floating community, located about 55 km from the city of Tay Ninh, is a testament to human ingenuity. The village is home to about 30 unique makeshift houses built on floating rafts, ingenious structures made from wood planks, bamboo, and buoyant barrels. These homes float on the water, with fish cages directly beneath them, blending living spaces with their livelihoods. The fishermen here have also developed an artful fishing technique: they arrange their nets on two extended bamboo arms at the front of their boats, a distinctive method that, from above, resembles the elegant tail of a fish. Dau Tieng Lake enchants visitors with its stunning natural scenery, featuring crystal-clear waters and banks adorned with lush green grass, making it a must-visit destination in the region.
