Grandfather and grandson went to the ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the April 30th victory. In their hands, they held the red flag with the yellow star, the flag stained with the blood of many generations of Vietnamese people who sacrificed for the Fatherland, including my grandfather; a veteran who had gone through two wars and today was very proud to return to Ho Chi Minh City to witness the heroic moments reenacted 50 years ago when he and his troops marched to liberate Saigon. A generation of young children and grandchildren will follow in the footsteps of their fathers and brothers to protect the beloved Vietnamese Fatherland.
