In the early weeks of September, in Púng Luông commune, Lào Cai province, during the rice harvest season, the Mong ethnic people celebrate the New Rice Festival. After the ceremonial part, the festival includes folk games such as pao throwing, tug-of-war, stick pushing, and love songs... on the golden terraced rice fields.
