- Lời giới thiệu: Nestled along provincial road 44A in Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu province, Vietnam, lie the Long Điền Salt Fields. Spanning roughly 500 hectares, these glistening plains are a testament to the enduring tradition of salt production, practiced by around 300 local households. The dance between humanity and nature unfolds here during the dry season, peaking from March to May. Under the warm sun, workers meticulously level the earth, while windmills become silent conductors, channeling seawater into the prepared fields. Perfect weather – hot, dry, and rainless – becomes a crucial ingredient, as it fuels the evaporation process, transforming the seawater into crystals over 7 to 15 days. To ensure the purity of the harvest, some producers utilize plastic sheets to shield the fields before the seawater floods the area. Once the transformation is complete, the crystallized salt is gathered into mounds for drying before being loaded onto boats or trucks and delivered to waiting traders. This process, passed down through generations, continues to be a vital source of income for the Long Điền community. A visit to these salt fields offers a glimpse into a timeless way of life, where hard work and nature collaborate to produce a simple necessity.
